Ouija board – Phasmophobia
The Ouija board is an item that can be used to talk to a ghost at the expense of your mental health. It appeared with the December Phasmophobia update and is one of six cursed items that can be drawn during an assignment. Typically, this item can be found on countertops or shelves in basements, garages, or rooms. Once found, it can be used anywhere on the map.
How to activate the Ouija board?
Pick up the Ouija board with an empty hand, then activate it with the left mouse button. Once activated, the wooden board (indicator) will appear and the preparation phase will be canceled. The next step is to ask the ghost a specific question – if the “press and speak” option is activated, the “V” key must be pressed while asking the question. The player who holds the Ouija board and asks the question must be in the investigation area. The board will not work in a truck or outside (in case of an investigation in a closed facility).
After asking the questions, deactivate the Ouija board by saying “Goodbye”. If the player does not deactivate the board and walks away from it, the board will start to burn and a cursed hunt will begin. Asking questions reduces mental health. If the player asking the question has a low Mental Health, the ghost will also start the hunt.

By activating the Ouija board you can ask the ghost specific questions. There are several questions in the game, which, when correctly identified, will make the ghost move the board (pointer) on the board. You can ask the ghost about the room they are in, their age, and even their cause of death. It is important to ask questions according to the list below.
Questions about location / spirit room
The spirit can inform you of the room it is in and where it is beginning the hunt.

The ghost can answer which room it is currently in or if it is in the same room as the player asking the question.

The ghost will respond with a random number between 50 and 1000 years, which was determined at the beginning of the assignment. If asked about the cause of death, the ghost will tell you how it died.

The ghost will respond based on the current number of players and the presence of the ghost itself in the room.

Questions about mental health
The answers give a rough indication of the current level of mental health. They are especially useful on large maps or for nightmare levels where health information is not available.

“Yes or No” questions
The game also features four questions that the ghost answers with “Yes” or “No”. You can ask the ghost about friendship, your favorite genre of music, or if you like the ghost.

Asking these questions will make the spirit respond if they are feeling well or if they are okay. You can also ask if the spirit is responding to everyone using the Spirit Box.

Question about bone location
Using the question below, you can get the answer from the spirit as to which room the bone is in. Once you find the bone, it is a good idea to take pictures of it and then take it with you. This will give you extra points to the order.

Playing hide-and-seek
Using the Ouija board in Phasmophobia, you can start a game of hide-and-seek with the ghost. Simply speak the words shown below and the ghost will start a countdown from 5 to 0, and then begin a cursed hunt.

Tips for using the Ouija board
If the question asked is recognized by the spirit, a wooden pointer will begin to move around the board, giving the player the answer. When using the Ouija board, it is a good idea to have an EMF reader with you, as you may notice a level two or level five reading when answering, if the spirit is associated with that particular piece of evidence.
It is also a good idea to bring your camera when asking questions and take a picture of the board before activating it. In the logbook, the photo will be labeled “Ouija Board” and will award 30, 45, or 60 points. Additional points can also be earned by taking a photo while the ghost is answering. In the log, the photo will be marked as a “Ghost Interaction” which will add another 30, 45 or 60 points. There is no limit on photos with interaction, so this is a great way to earn a lot of points.
Each correct Ouija board question should result in an answer by the ghost. The chance of an answer is not affected by whether the spirit is shy. If nothing happens after asking a question, check to see if the board is turned on and make sure the question was asked correctly. It is also possible that the game is incorrectly recognizing the player’s voice after using Alt-Tab.
